Mister Detroit Eagle 2010

Congratulations to Alan, Mister Detroit Eagle 2010. The contest was held Saturday, November 21st and our good friends Jeffrey Payne-International Mr. Leather 2009, Ron Billman-Mr. Cell Block Leatherman 2009, Dave Watt-Mr. Michigan Leather 2009, Rik Newton-Treadway-Mr. Maryland Leather 2009 & David Dean-Mr. Pittsburgh Eagle 2009 joined us to help make the decision on this years titleholder.

We all look forward to a new year with Alan and wish to thank all those who came out to celebrate.

Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010 Contest Weekend

Have YOU got what it takes to be the next Mr. Detroit Eagle???

Come join the current Mr. Detroit Eagle, John Boslooper and his special guests to help decide the winner of the title Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010!!

Friday, November 20 starts out the weekend events with a Meat n' Greet. Doors open at 9pm. Come out and get a chance to meet all of the contestants and the special guest judges brought it from all over the USA.

Saturday, November 21 - CONTEST NIGHT!! Doors open at 9PM and the Contest will start at 10PM.

The winner of the title Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010 will be eligible to compete at International Mr. Leather 2010 in Chicago, IL on Memorial Day weekend. The MDE contest will follow a format similar to that used at IML.

Prior to the stage appearances each contestant was privately interviewed by the panel of judges. This is a non-scoring round but helps formulate the judges' opinion and understanding of the contestants involvement in and knowledge of the leather community.

Each contestant will make three appearances on stage to answer a question presented by the Emcee. In each round the contestants will present themselves in three different images: Round One in "Bar/Cruise Wear", Round Two in a jockstrap, and Round Three in "Full Leather".

The judges will give each contestant a score of 0-100 for each round. Scores will be tabulated using the Olympic style of scoring of eliminating the lowest and highest score and calculating the remaining scores. The contestant with the highest total for all three rounds will become Mr. Detroit Eagle 2010.

The winner will receive a prize package that includes hotel accommodations for IML 2010, a title vest, free cover at all Detroit Eagle events during his title year, and a bar tab from the Detroit Eagle.

LEATHER EXCHANGE 2009

We all have some fetish items stored away. Why not give them new life? One man's trash is another man's fantasy.

Bring in your old/used/new Leather, Gear, Fetish/Kink wear, DVD/Videos, etc., register it, tag it for sale, and if it sells you receive 90% of your ticket price with 10% going to charity.

10% of all sales go to Affirmations in Ferndale.

John B. is Mr. Detroit Eagle 2009!

What a busy night it was last Saturday, November 22nd. The crowd kept the staff busy as the waited for to find out who the next Mr. Detroit Eagle 2009 was going to be. Three contestants took the stage and after three rounds of interviews and on stage presentations it was decided. John B. is the new MDE 2009!

"Having the title of Mr. Detroit Eagle bestowed upon me could have never happened without the support of the many people who showed up for the competition, the friends and bar patrons who believed that I had it in me to accept such an honorable position, and last but certainly not least, to the judges who I believe had the hardest job of all. THANK YOU ALL!

Every contestant gave his all to win the title and each one had unique qualities that set them apart to represent The Detroit Eagle, the Leather Community in Detroit and moving forward to represent at IML in May. I believe the decision was a very hard but fair one and I have accepted these responsibilities with open arms and I am prepared to make 2009 the best year yet! Thank you to the judges James, Dale, Matt, Rich, and Ron.

Thank you to the previous and current titleholders, ICON Members and my bar family who came in on both nights to wish me luck in the competition. You gave me the courage and confidence to move forward.

I’d also like to send special thanks to several people who hold a deep place in my heart. Craig, Shawn, Katie, Brandi, Aaron, Ann, Brandon, Jason, Kerry, Kimmy, Cheslea, Dak, Tom, Billy and Torria just to name a few. Without these people in my life to support me I couldn’t have made it to where I am now.

I’d also like to thank Mark and Ryan with NoirDungeon.com for helping me create and alter some of my wardrobe which I wore in the competition. THANKS GUYS!

ICON Detroit FETISH CARNIVAL

Once again the ICON Detroit crew hosted an amazing night at the Eagle. The evening's events included bondage and rope demonstrations as well as a fetish auction. Our fine bootblacks were hard at work taking care of visitors from near and far and members of LIFE Detroit paid a visit as well as Mr. Michigan Leather.  

We here at the Eagle wish to thank the men of ICON and all our Eagle regulars for a great evening.

ICON Detroit Presents FETISH CARNIVAL Oct. 10-12

DETROIT, MI (09/12/08) – The men of ICON Detroit leather club plan a weekend of leather and fetish fun at venues across the city October 10-12. Events scheduled during the club’s 15th annual run weekend include ICON Unleashed, a hot combination of dance, demos and deviance at Backstreet Nightclub Friday, October 10.

Unleashed–a fetish ball–combines the elements of leather, fetish and kink with a night out of dancing. A previous version, held in January of this year, was by far the largest leather-themed dance event in Detroit since the now-defunct Geared for Life parties. The upcoming Unleashed Friday picks up where that last event left off, and once again features bondage and S&M demos courtesy of Detroit Bondage Club, plus a “hottest gear” contest, door prizes, go-go boys, performances, wide-screen multimedia slideshow, horny guys dancing all night long and more. “We expect a large, diverse crowd from around the Great Lakes area ranging from the experienced to the curious and everyone in between,” says club president Craig Anderson.

The following evening will see the return of the popular gathering of leather/fetish folk at The Detroit Eagle, Sat. Oct. 11. The gathering is a reunion of leather family and friends, featuring a Fetish Family Dinner and Fetish Bash, silent auction, bootblacking, door prizes and surprises, plus appearances by special guests and all three of ICON’s current titleholders—Randall, Mr. Leather Cowboy, James, Mr. Detroit Eagle and Trooper, Great Lakes Bootblack.

ALL cover proceeds benefit local and state charities: The Ruth Ellis Center, providing shelter and services to homeless and at-risk LGBT youth in Detroit; Triangle Foundation, one of America’s leading LGBT advocacy organizations; and AIDS Partnership Michigan, providing HIV education, prevention and support services.

Trooper is Great Lakes Bootblack 2008

Our own Trooper (the bootblack you've also come to know on staff here at the Eagle as "Rich") competed in the Great Lakes Leather Alliance weekend of contests in Indianapolis, in the bootblack category August 22-24.

He competed against 2 very good contestants, including our other bootblack staffer, boy matt, and Tami. We are proud that Trooper brings home the prize as he is the new Great Lakes Bootblack 2008! He represents ICON well, our bar, and now our city, state and region.

At at time when leather bars around the country are removing their bootblack chairs, we are lucky to have a busy one -- with not 1, but 2 quality bootblacks. Remember to have your boots and leathers cared for by our guys! And good luck at IML XXXI, Trooper!

LIFE Detroit - Pantheon of Leather 2008

Congratulations to LIFE DETROIT who won the 2008 Pantheon of Leather award for a small non profit organization last weekend in Chicago. They do a lot of educational and fundraising work for the leather community and richly deserve this award.

LIFE Detroit (Leather Institute For Education) is a Metro-Detroit based discussion and presentation group that meets the third Wednesday of every month. LIFE Detroit provides a great opportunity to learn about or share acquired knowledge within the Leather Community.

The Detroit Bondage Club Fund Raiser

Friday night the men of the Detroit Bondage Club showed up in full force to help raise money for the Triangle Foundation. This event usually happens during the winter but, as some of you may recall, Detroit's unpredictable winter weather unleashed a pretty messy snow storm that evening. The event was rescheduled.

The warm weather of July was much more inviting this past Friday. Visitors from around the area and neighboring states dropped by. Demonstration ran all night with participants from the crowd volunteering. We're please so many people turned up to show their support for the DBC and the Triangle Foundation. Thank you to everyone.

If you are interested in joining the men of the DBC, they hold monthly meeting upstairs starting around 9pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. Their next meeting will take place this Sunday, July 27th. Why not pay a visit and participate?

Meet Our Bootblacks - Boy Matt

A 32 year old bootblack, boy matt lives in Ypsilanti MI where he works at the University of Michigan Health Center as a clerk. Away from work, boy matt spends enjoys reading, listening to and arranging music, cooking, watching TV and movies, and spending time with friends. Starting with the fantasy of licking boots, boy matt's interest in bootblacking has evolved to taking care of his previous Sirs’ boots. 

In the Spring of 2007, he did his first public bootblacking at the Bachelor Forum in Rochester New York. It was there where boy matt truly learned he was a bootblack. In August 2007, boy matt competed and received 2nd runner up at the North American Bootblack contest in Toronto. Currently he bootblacks at Woof’s in Columbus OH on the Second Friday of the month as well as bootblacking at the Detroit Eagle two Saturday’s a month; he will be competing at the IML bootblack competition in May 2008 and plans to bootblack at CLAW. 

Thank-you to all boy matt's teachers and mentors over the years including slave Eric, Black, slave cub, boy joe, boy alex, boy eli, and Boo Boo.

Kink Sale

Our own Mr. Detroit Eagle sent out the request, "Clean out your closets and find that kinky gear, bring it to the Eagle, register it and tag it for sale". Dozens of men did just that and on April 12th visitors to the bar had the chance to purchase not only leather but also videos, fetish gear, memorabilia and other items.

MDE2008 reported, "Everyone had a good time. There was a great crowd and we even got some boys to try out the spanking bench that was for sale."

10% of the money made was donated to local charities and the remainder was returned to those who donated goods.  Additional we here at the Eagle would like to send out our appreciation to everyone who donated their goods for the sale and to the many visitors who came out to show their support. And special thanks go to Mr. Leather Cowboy, Randall Davis, to Ron and Doug for selling items for the Triangle Foundation and ICONs Tony, Bryan and Craig for assisting with the sale and raffle. 

Will there be more sales in the future? That is very likely.  Of course we will keep you posted so you don't miss the next one.  Stay tuned.

Meet Our Bootblacks - Rich

Updates are being made to the website.  Eventually we'll have pictures and info to share about the men who make the Eagle so great.  In the meantime we'll introduce you to a few of them.

Involved in the leather scene since 2000, Rich is a member of the Detroit Bondage Club and an officer of Icon Detroit. He has served Michigan's leather community for over 2 years as a bootblack at events such as CHC's Inferno as well as runs for Grand Rapids Nimbus, Tribe Detroit and Icon Detroit. Rich proudly helps with fundraising each year for charitable causes around the Midwest.

Look for him bootblacking at the Detroit Eagle the 1st & 2nd Saturdays of the month.  And remember, there's a Bootblack on duty here at the Eagle every Saturday.

Blacklight Underwear Party

It never fails.  Every time I get all the events on the calendar I find out I forgot something.

The Eagle is hosting another blackout party.  It's one of the Eagles most popular Friday events.  So put on your favorite pair of underwear and get to the Eagle Friday, April 18th.  There's drink specials for men in their underwear and a free clothes check.  Other special events will be happening throughout the evening.

We know you'll have a great time.
